first sketch in...well, thousand years?

I have been in awe of Renata Liwska's illustration works for quite some time now. Her works give me such a calm presence that I love looking at her pictures at an end of a very hectic day. Not to mention that I love sharing them with my children, Aris and Sofia.

I have not done any drawing or painting in-what seems like several thousand years at least, but in reality it has been about 7 years. And, all that time I did not have much desire to draw nor had time. But, when I looked through Renata's blog a few days ago, my heart started to beat faster and I got this urge to sketch and draw.

So, I had my computer open to her screen and did this quick sketch.
Here you can see the real work.
I know! the proportion is totally off and the expression is horrendous in mine compare to Renata's work. I hope she doesn't mind that I did this.

Anyway, I've pulled out old sketch book and some pencils off my attic and (oh man!) my hand was as rusty as the spiral of the sketch book. But, I had a blast doing sketches whole afternoon on Sunday. I know that I am not near where I should be to make my dream come true, but let's hope in ten years... I can have something to show.

A sketch book and a pencil.
Practice at least ten minutes everyday.
That is one way to get where I need to go.
piano piano....slowly slowly... I will get there.
